Environmental Policy - JamJar Print

At JamJar Print, we understand the importance of environmental sustainability and strive to go above and beyond all legal and industry requirements to reduce our impact on the planet.

We understand that the printing industry can significantly impact the environment. So we take a holistic approach to business planning, development, production, and marketing, ensuring that environmental considerations are at the forefront of everything we do.

But we know that we can always do more. Therefore, we are committed to continuous improvement and regularly review our environmental practices to identify areas where we can improve further. We engage our staff and customers in this process, encouraging all to contribute their ideas and suggestions for reducing our environmental impact.

Our Environmental Objectives

To drive our philosophy of continual improvement, and pollution reduction, we have set several objectives:

1. Conservation of energy.

2. Conservation of natural resources used.
   In both our manufacturing and dispatch operations.

3. Minimisation of waste.
   In both production and packaging.

4. Reduction of solvents.
   In the workplace and atmosphere.

5. Provision of safe, clean and hygienic working conditions.

6. Reduction of noise to the lowest levels practicable.
   For both employees and members of the public.

7. Safe storage and disposal of waste.
   To meet our “Duty of care” requirements.

8. Responsible operation, maintenance, and development.
   For all our plant and processes to reflect the above principles.

Our Activity

To work towards achieving these objectives, we have implemented a range of activities:

• We use environmentally friendly papers and FSC and PEFC-accredited materials where possible. 

• We use vegetable-based or low-migration ink on our lithographic presses.

• We recycle all paper off-cuts, waste paper and card produced in our building. 

• We use a licensed contractor to collect any waste chemicals. 

• We ensure all aluminium plates are recycled.

• We ensure our process equipment is energy-efficient and well-maintained. 

• We use process-free plates to remove chemicals from the plate-making process, saving significant power and water.

• We remove undercolour before plating artwork to reduce the ink required in the print process without forfeiting the high printing quality.

• We also have all colour curves independently checked and corrected to ISO standards to ensure our printing standards are at the top of our game. 

• Our Heidelberg presses offer inpress control, reducing the waste paper required in the make-ready process.
